NEW DELHI : The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the answer key of Civil Services Examination - Preliminary (UPSC CSE) prelims 2023. Candidates who appeared for the prelims exam can check the UPSC CSE prelims answer key 2023 on the official website, upsc.gov.in.
The commission has dropped one question from each series of paper 1 general studies 1. There were a total of 100 questions carrying a total of 200 marks. Hence, candidates will be marked for 99 questions only in paper 1.
Paper 2 for general studies 2 comprised a total of 80 questions with a maximum of 200 marks. There was negative marking in the exam as per which candidates will lose one-third of marks for each incorrect response.
UPSC CSE 2023 prelims was conducted on May 28. A total of 14,624 candidates were declared qualified in the prelims exam. Qualified candidates appeared for the UPSC CSE Mains 2023 exam. The commission declared UPSC CSE 2023 final result recently. A total of 1,016 candidates have been recommended for appointment.
The candidates were selected on the basis of UPSC CSE Mains result 2023 which was declared on December 3 and interviews for personality tests post mains exam.

Candidates can download the answer key of UPSC CSE 2023 prelims by following the steps given below.
- Go to the official website of UPSC, upsc.gov.in
- Click on the examination tab
- Now, click on the answer key link in front of “Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2023”
- UPSC CSE answer key PDF will be displayed
- Download the PDFs for future reference
