UPTET Result 2026: UPESSC rejects candidates' grievances related to OMR and normalisation of scores

Following the declaration of the UPTET 2026 results, the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) constituted a six-member committee to address grievances raised by candidates seeking result revisions. However, the committee has rejected the candidates' representations seeking corrections in optical mark recognition (OMR) and normalisation of results, after reviewing all grievances.

The committee classified the representations into four categories, and only the correction in certificate request has been accepted. UPESSC has decided that applications will soon be invited via the commission's portal to rectify errors in the names, dates of birth, and categories on candidates' certificates.

Candidates will need to complete the applications to obtain corrected UPTET 2026 certificates . This year, more than 13.3 lakh candidates qualified in the UPTET 2026 examination.

UPTET Results 2026: Grievances rejected

UPESSC rejected the grievances related to OMR filling and said that the rules to fill the OMR sheet were specified through various channels, including in the admit card and notification. Therefore, in light of the pre-exam instructions issued by the commission and the judgments delivered by various courts regarding OMR evaluation, the relief sought for this category was not found to be admissible, it added.

Furthermore, the requests for score normalisation have also been rejected because the results were prepared by evaluating the comparative difficulty levels of the question papers across different shifts using a high-level, software-based scientific formula.

This process, which is also adopted by other examination bodies, has been upheld as valid. Consequently, it is natural for some candidates' scores to decrease and others' to increase during normalisation. Therefore, the relief sought in the representations, specifically changes to raw or normalised scores, cannot be granted, the commission clarified.

Additionally, UPESSC has announced the UP Special Teacher Eligibility Test (TET 2026) dates. UPESSC will conduct the special UPTET 2026 exam on November 3. Those who have already passed TET or CTET do not need to pass the special TET again.
