Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath to launch ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ today to ensure 100% enrolment

NEW DELHI: Eying 100 percent enrolment in primary and upper primary schools, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath will kick-start the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ today in the state.

“Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Ji Maharaj will inaugurate the first phase of 'School Chalo Abhiyan-2023' and 'Communicable Disease Control Campaign' in Lucknow today,” the CMO tweeted.

The chief minister will inaugurate the campaign at Lok Bhavan and the event will be broadcast live on social media.

An official spokesperson said that the campaign is organized with an aim of 100% enrolment and said: “No child should be deprived of education”. Every year 'School Chalo Abhiyan' is being conducted in all the districts and it has helped in improving the exam results, the official statement read.

Since 2018, the state government has been conducting “Communicable Disease Control and Dastak Abhiyan” in three phases every year through wide public participation, it said. As a part of communicable disease control campaign, 'Dastak Abhiyan' will also be implemented from April 17, 2023.

Last year, the chief minister instructed officials that districts with low literacy rate should be prioritised and primary schools in the state should be equipped with better facilities.

The 'School Chalo Abhiyan' is being started from Shravasti district which has the lowest literacy rate in the state followed by Bahraich, Balrampur, Badaun and Rampur, the state government had said.
