Vivekananda Global University participates in AU-Jaipur Marathon, enters in Golden Book of World Record

Cash prizes were given on completion of the 21 km and 10 km race in which a large number of students from NCC and NSS participated.

NEW DELHI: Over six thousand students, alumni, faculty members, parents, stakeholders and staff of the Vivekananda Global University sprinted at the 14th edition of the AU-Jaipur Marathon thereby entering the Golden Book of World Record. The event was held on February 5, 2023.

C and FO Er OnkarBagaria, chairperson, president, registrar, deans, faculties, heads of different departments and other faculty members and staff were present in the event.

More than 500 students from rural areas along with Gram Panchayat Sarpanchs participated in this run. To encourage the students in this marathon, cash prizes were also given on completion of 21 km and 10 km race in which a large number of students from NCC and NSS participated.

The top 5 winners in the 21 km race were Ajay Singh Chauhan, Karthik, Siddhant Arya of NCC, Divyansh Bishnoi of NSS, Dhara Singh Meena of PhD and Deepak Beniwal of NCC. In the top 5 to win the 10-kilometre race were Deepak Beniwal, BhanwarLal, Deepak Chowdhary of NCC and KailashBhadoo and Raj Kumar Meena of NSS. Each was awarded a cash prize of Rs 2,100. VGU also felicitate 50 eminent personalities and invited guests at the conclusion of the race.

Apart from these, the faculties of the university also participated in the 10-kilometre race, in which Deputy Director Anil Bagadia, HOD, Department of Law Dr Richa Chowdhary, Architect Mukesh Bhati, Dr Shalini Dixit and Dr DeepikaKachhawa from Allied Health Care were present.

From the senior citizens to minor children, who were members of the VGU staff, were seen competing with each other. Among the runners, some were members from the corporate world, academia, different sporting fields and even house makers.

VGU had made extensive arrangements to make sure that the runners were well taken care of during the Marathon. Kiosks and stalls every few hundred metres were set up where bottles of mineral water were being distributed among the runners to keep them hydrated.

The teams from the Physiotherapy department of the VGU were deployed at the venue of the Marathon to take care of any spasm, injury or any kind of physical problem the students and teachers of the Physiotherapy team along with the VGU First Aid Lounge were fully prepared and helped the people.

Along with this, the paramedical team was available to serve the people there to monitor and check glucose, sugar level, blood pressure or any first aid or emergency. To keep its people healthy, fit and fine, VGU Health Station was also arranged in Marathon where Agriculture and Hotel Management Department made arrangements to refresh people and make them feel energetic with fresh fruit and vegetable juices.

Sharing her thoughts on the marathon, Dr Deepika Kachwaha for whom it was the first Marathon, said that it was a thrilling experience for her. ‘’It was really amazing….I felt great to be a part of the Marathon,’’ she said.

Another faculty member Dr Shalini Dixit said, "This was my first marathon and it will be special for me as the arrangements and track were very good. It felt very energetic to see so many enthusiastic people with happy faces early in the morning." She also took a vow to run faster next time.
