The JEE Main cut-offs were increased for all categories last year. The JEE cut-off for general category rose by 2.45% and a total 97,351 candidates belonging to unreserved category secured the minimum cut-off, as per the previous year’s results.
Notably, the top 10 JEE Advanced rank holders opted for computer science engineering at 8 IITs - IIT Bombay , IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Roorkee. Except during COVID-pandemic in 2020 and 2022, IIT Bombay has remained the number one choice of JEE Advanced toppers in the last seven years.
Only the top 2.5 lakh rank holders in JEE Main 2025 will be eligible to appear in the JEE Advanced 2025 exam, the gateway exam for IIT admissions.
JEE Main BTech question paper
The JEE Main BE, BTech paper 1 will consist of three sections - physics, chemistry, and mathematics - having multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and numerical value answers. The JEE Main PCM sections will carry 20 questions in section A and 5 compulsory questions in section B carrying a total of 300 marks.
The JEE Main optional questions, which were introduced during COVID-19 pandemic, have been removed by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Good score in JEE Main 2025
For the past few years, the number of candidates securing top 10 ranks have increased. CSE has remained the most popular choice of the JEE toppers for years now.
Aspirants seeking admission in computer science engineering at the top IITs will have to score 100 percentile or around 12000 rank to grab a seat in other IITs. Last year, a candidate with rank 12108 was allotted the last BTech CSE seat in IIT Jammu. Here’s how much marks you will have to score to get top rank in JEE Mains 2025.
