Women shine at the IITDM convocation; constitute one-third of the graduates

NEW DELHI, JULY 15: Women students comprised 32 per cent of the total graduates at the seventh convocation of Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM), Kancheepuram. Former ISRO Chairman Dr. K Radhakrishnan was the chief guest at the ceremony which also held the presence of Prof. S. Sadagopan, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIITDM Kancheepuram, and Prof. Banshidar Majhi, Director, IIITDM Kancheepuram.
On the occasion, a total of 31 medals were presented to students under various categories for their outstanding performances. Dheepika K. received the institute gold medal for the all-Rounder of the graduating batch while Shweta Kumari won the gold medal across all M.Tech and M.Des. programmes.
Among other toppers, Surya Prakash T.K. won the gold medal across all B.Tech programmes. Shiva Ganesh M. topped across all Dual Degree programmes. In total, 288 students received their graduation certificates which included 118 B. Tech students, 116 Dual degree students, 41 M. Tech students, and 13 PhD students.
Highlighting the opportunities that beckon the graduating students, Dr. Radhakrishnan said, “India is on the threshold of human spaceflight and complex interplanetary exploration which will open up enormous challenges and host of opportunities to the new generation.“
ITDM Kancheepuram is an Institute of National Importance established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, to pursue design and manufacturing oriented engineering education and research and to promote the competitive advantage of Indian products in global markets.
