NEW DELHI: National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021 has been marred with controversies this year. Several reports on NEET paper leak and impersonation surfaced during the NEET 2021 exam, which was held on September 12. The result of the medical entrance exam was declared on November 1 after the Supreme Court gave its permission to declare the NEET result 2021.

Several petitions were also filed against the NEET 2021 exam and students across the country demanded re-exam to ensure “fairness and justice”. Medical aspirants also requested to cancel NEET 2021 , however, the court dismissed the plea stating that “it was not a local exam” and the apex court criticized the petitioner for being 'adventurous' by filing the writ petition and warned that costs will be imposed.

After the NEET result 2021 was declared on November 1, several students claimed on social media that there were errors in NEET result 2021 and that the scores did not match the expected marks based on the answer key released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on the official website, neet.nta.nic.in.

A Twitter user said, “Hi this is same condition with my sis ,that she is expecting that she’ll get 650 but the result shows zero it’s a big sacm by NTA #NTA #NEETResult2021 #neetscam.”

A candidate tagged the NTA and said, “I have got different marks on my OMR and orginal result sheet..... Plzz go though once !! @DG_NTA #neetscam.”

Another medical aspirant said, “What the hell happenings @DG_NTA Totally fraud, expected marks on basis of omr and answer key as published by you the marks in results of so many students are totally varying. Big scam in neet 2021 results #NEETResult2021 #OMR #neetscam.”

A student said, “Even this year a student scoring just 108 marks in NEET out of 720 ( I.e just only 15% ) will get MBBS seat if his parents afford to pay 25,000,00 per year fees. How can we say NEET is bringing quality inputs in medical admissions? SO MBBS IS ONLY FOR RICH AFFORDABLE STUDENTS?”

On October 30, Uttar Pradesh Police asked the NTA to withhold the NEET 2021 results of 25 candidates who are allegedly involved in ‘NEET solver gang’. The Varanasi Police Commissioner had also sent the complete biodata of all the candidates to the NTA. The police have also collected the sample fingerprints from the form to match with the fingerprints of students who are allegedly involved in the gang.

Pointing to the issue, a student said on social media, “#NEET2021result shows that competition among are rising but is their any other factor other than this. Is there any background work going on. Bcoz UP police have reported @DG_NTA to withheld results of 25 students for #NeetCheating. But still no action. #NeetScam @dpradhanbjp.”

However, the NTA informed that the results of 15 candidates were cancelled as they were identified using unfair practices during the exam.
