NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 21: Cargill, in partnership with the Institute of International Education (IIE), announced the winners of the Cargill Global Scholars Program. The program is being run in six countries and has awarded scholarships to a total of 360 students globally of which 60 are from India.
Amongst 60 scholarships awarded to Indian students, 10 have been awarded to students in leading science and technology institutions including Delhi Technological University; Indian Institute of Technology Delhi; Indian Institute of Technology Bombay; and National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli.
Cargill Global Scholars Program is a distinctive scholarship opportunity that provides financial support and leadership development opportunities to students through seminars, networking events, and a one-on-one mentoring program. Students selected as Cargill Global Scholars will receive scholarship funds of US$2,500 per year for up to two years and will be invited to take part in a series of leadership and enrichment activities designed to enhance critical thinking skills and equip them with the tools necessary for becoming leaders and decision makers in their chosen fields.
Ashu Malhotra, HR Lead- Indian sub-continent, Cargill said, “The Cargill Global Scholars program vision is to strengthen the foundation for future leaders by preparing them to take on exciting opportunities and challenges. Throughout the program, students receive academic and professional guidance as well as counselling from Cargill leaders. In addition to the scholarship, this also offers them management improvement opportunities. The scholars also automatically join the Cargill Global Scholars alumni community once the program is completed keeping this association going strong in the long term.”
Shubhankar Mihir Seth from IIT Bombay expressed, “Being a part of a cohort of scholars brought together by their global outlook, exponential thinking, high aspirations and a firm desire to make a difference is exhilarating yet humbling- this is an immense opportunity for all of us to help each other realize our own potential and achieve great things together.”
Vivek Mansukhani, Head, IIE, India says, “IIE is proud to partner with Cargill on the Global Scholars Program. We believe that such opportunities are critical to give students a global perspective and help them thrive in a world that is increasingly interconnected. Moving beyond building connections they are also able to solve problems together with a spirit of entrepreneurship, leadership and commitment to excellence.”
