NEW DELHI: The Bar Council of India (BCI) has clarified that the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) dummy certificate of practice (COP) does not hold any validity. These online COPs are not printable, nor downloadable from the AIBE App, the council informed.
In a latest announcement, the BCI said: “It is clarified that dummy COP (Certificate of Practice) or internet COP copies are presently uploaded on the "All India Bar Examination App." are uploaded solely for the purpose of viewing details by candidates for requesting correction…”
“These online COPs do not hold any validity, as they are only drafts for correction purposes. Their sole purpose was/is for correction of the same after verification of details of the candidates who had given AIBE,” it added.
The clarification comes months after the BCI uploaded the COPs on AIBE Android APP or AIBE iOS APP, which is available for download in the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
The council also allowed candidates to edit discrepancies in name, father's name, or enrolment number given on the certificate.

BCI shares the COPs of advocates who qualify the AIBE exams 2024 to the offices of State Bar Councils. The certificates are sent after corrections, if any, are notified by the candidates. “The Advocate should enquire and collect the Certificate of Practice from the office of State Bar Council. Simultaneously, the Advocate should apply for a permanent enrollment certificate,” the state council said.
According to the BCI Resolution dated January 31, 2017, it has been clarified that “while the right to practice would only be for two years under a provisional enrolment, the said person can continue to take the Bar Examination as many times as is possible”.
