AP NEET PG, MDS: NTRUHS issues warning notice regarding seat blocking

NEW DELHI - In a notice released on July 15, 2020, NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS), Warangal, has warned the candidates and colleges against ‘deliberate’ blocking of PG medical/dental seats with ‘malicious intents’. The aforementioned notice has been released after the authorities observed that some candidates are blocking seats by opting for the seat during counselling and not joining it after being allotted.

How are AP PG medical, dental 2020 seats being blocked?

The notice quotes, “It has come to the notice of the undersigned that some candidates/colleges are deliberately trying to block the seats by opting for the seats and not joining the allotted seats.” This means there are candidates who get admission to a particular college, but purposely do not join the allotted seat and also do not leave the earlier seat. In such cases, the seat gets blocked by the candidates.

However, there are cases when a candidate pays for a seat during counselling and opts to join the seat but appears for further rounds of counselling too. In this case, if a better seat is allotted then the candidate can upgrade and the fee paid by them previously is refunded.

Reasons behind blocking of seat

As aforementioned, the notice states that some colleges/candidates are doing this deliberately and are ‘liable for punishment and his/her admission will automatically stand cancelled’. Reports suggest that this is allegedly done in order to provide these seats to less deserving candidates by charging them high donations. This indeed is a crime and legal action is certain against such people and institutions.
