NEW DELHI: Delhi chief minister Arwind Kejriwal announced on Friday that Sonu Sood will be the brand ambassador for Delhi Government’s 'Desh Ke Mentors' programme.

The initiative involves mentors taking out 10 minutes every week to guide government school students. The initiative helps students find mentors who can advise them and answer career-related questions.

At the press conference, Kejriwal said: “Worked very hard to transform Delhi’s Government schools; want to make education a people’s revolution and we are delighted to have Sonu Sood onboard, he has inspired lacs through his selfless service.”

Kejriwal and deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia met the philanthropist and actor Sonu Sood to discuss the new ‘Desh Ke Mentor’ initiative that the Delhi Government is set to launch.

The face of the campaign, Sood said, “I am impressed by the transformation in Delhi Government schools in the past year. High quality education for all children, whether rich or poor, is the key to a brighter future for the country. We need to come together and do our share for nation building. I urge the youth of India to come be a part of Desh Ke Mentor.”

When COVID-19 pandemic was at its peak in the country, Sood’s efforts helped many out-of-work migrant labourers. His Sood Charity Foundation has helped thousands of deserving students achieve their educational and professional goals, through financial assistance or in its efforts to prepare students for a professional career. The foundation has also prioritised giving financial assistance to the students who were orphaned by the pandemic.
