Asian Games 2023: JMI alumnus part of India’s 50-meter rifle 3Ps men's gold medal-winning team

Asian Games 2023: Jamia Millia Islamia’s (JMI) alumni Akhil Sheoran completed his MBA in marketing and international business from the university in 2017.
NEW DELHI: Jamia Millia Islamia’s alumni Akhil Sheoran was a part of India's 50-metre rifle 3Ps men's team that won the gold medal with a new world record at the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in China.
Akhil Sheoran completed his MBA in marketing and international business from JMI in the year 2017. India's 50-metre Rifle 3Ps men's team had Akhil Sheoran, Aishwary Tomar, and Swapnil Kusale who won the gold medal in the team event.
The JMI vice chancellor Najma Akhtar and pro-vice-chancellor Eqbal Hussain conveyed their best wishes to Akhil and hoped that he would keep on performing well to bring more medals for the country. Waseem Khan, director, games and sports, JMI also wished good luck to Akhil in his future endeavors.

The university stated that Sheoran had earlier won gold at the 2023 ISSF world shooting championship at Baku, Azerbaijan along with compatriots Aishwary Pratap Tomar and Niraj Kumar in men’s 50m rifle 3 position team event with a bronze at men’s 50m rifle 3 position for an individual game.
Sheoran aims to win an Olympic medal for the country. On winning the Asian championship he said, “Jamia has a Wall of Fame with pictures of all the brilliant athletes who pursued their education from the university. I, too, wanted my picture up there one day... This is where I started dreaming big and the Olympics is the answer!”
