BHU accuses news site of fake news, misquoting chief proctor

The fake news states that the BHU chief proctor pointed out discrimination on the part of BHU by referring to the visit by the VC to a religious event held by students.
NEW DELHI: The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) accused the REPUBLICWORLD.COM of misquoting the BHU chief proctor and showing the BHU administration in poor light. BHU university, in a tweet, condemned the act by the publication to malign the image of the institution.
"An online report published by REPUBLICWORLD.COM has misquoted BHU Chief Proctor, showing the varsity administration in poor light. Banaras Hindu University condemns this attempt to malign the image of an institution of global repute," said BHU in a tweet.

The tweet by BHU further said that the university will take action against this fake news. A video statement by the chief proctor of the BHU was also tweeted. The chief proctor said in the video that there is no wrong in students celebrating an event with the permission of the warden, and others participating in the celebration.

The news by the REPUBLICWORLD.COM states that the BHU chief proctor has pointed out discrimination on the part of BHU by alleging that no member of the university's administration had attended a religious event held by a student outfit until BHU vice-chancellor Sudhir Kumar Jain did so. Jain had attended an iftar-roza hosted by BHU's Women's College on April 2.
BHU said that the media has to inform people with facts, and should not twist facts. It further said that such fake news is against the media ethics in a democracy.
