Bihar announces setting up of women-only university

Bihar has made an announcement to set up an all-women's university where all faculty members, from top to bottom, would be women. Bihar chief minister Samrat Choudhary made an announcement at a function, where a sum of Rs 600 crore was disbursed among beneficiaries through DBT, under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, which was rolled out last year.

"I extend my greetings to all sisters of Bihar on the eve of Raksha Bandhan. We believe that the state can prosper only if our women do well. A Mahila Vishwavidyalaya will be set up in the state. The university will be run by women, from top to bottom. The vice chancellor, professors, other staffers and students shall all be women," the chief minister said.

The chief minister also extended his best wishes to 7,376 women selected through the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) nurse recruitment exam.

CM Balika PhD Fellowship

Choudhary further highlighted that under the Chief Minister Balika PhD Fellowship, around 1,000 female students will receive financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per month for four years to pursue higher education and research.

He also noted that there were only 600 women among 4,600 individuals pursuing PhD studies in Bihar.

TRE-4 in single phase, special committee

Meanwhile, the state has also decided to hold BPSC's TRE exam in a single phase after students in the state staged a protest and gheraoed the CM's residence.

Furthermore, Bihar has also made announcements to hold competitive examinations in the state, which have of late been marred by allegations of question paper leaks and other irregularities.

The state government has also set up a special expert committee on examination reforms to offer recommendations for improvements in the exam conducting system. The committee will be chaired by a judge of the Patna High Court and will also assist students and hear their complaints related to examinations.

Student assistance portal

Additionally, the state government has also launched "Student Assistance Portal" and "Student Assistance Camps" to provide resolutions to students' problems and complaints, through which solutions to students' problems will be provided within 30 days.

Recently, the state has launched a 24x7, one-on-one interactive facility , known as “Bihar Vidya Saathi,” for more than 3 lakh students in 700 model schools across 38 districts of the state. Students of Classes 9 to 12 will be offered live tutor support along with online study materials for preparation for the Bihar Board exams and competitive exams such as JEE and NEET.
