Bihar announces teacher recruitment drive for 69,692 TGT, PGT posts in government schools
Bihar Teachers Recruitment 2023: Most teacher vacancies for the new drive are in Classes 6 to 8 in upper primary schools; hiring is through BPSC TRE.

NEW DELHI : The Bihar government will soon invite applications for the recruitment of nearly 70,000 teachers in middle, secondary and senior secondary schools of the state. In a letter dated October 6, the state education department sought approval from the accountant general regarding the new recruitment drive against 69,692 teacher vacancies.
After getting approval from the accountant general, the education department will issue an official order and Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) will start the registration process for fresh Bihar teachers recruitment drive 2023. The registration process for new teachers recruitment will start once the BPSC completes the ongoing recruitment drive of 1.70 lakh teachers.
The Bihar cabinet had on September 19 approved the proposal to recruit 69,692 teachers for different classes. Now, the details of the new recruitment drive including subject-wise teacher vacancies and salaries have been finalised by the education department.
Bihar Class 6 to 12 teachers recruitment
The education department has said that there is a need for effective intervention in the management and quality improvement of Bihar government schools. To fulfill this need, Bihar government is recruiting new teachers under ‘Bihar State School Teachers (Appointment, Transfer, Disciplinary Proceedings and Service Conditions) Rules, 2023’.
While the ongoing recruitment drive of 1.70 lakh teachers is mainly for government primary schools (Class 1 to 5), the Bihar government will now fill posts of Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) for Classes 6 to 8 and Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) for Classes 9 to 12. Of 69,692 vacancies, maximum – 31,982 or 45% – are for Classes 6 to 8.

In Classes 9 and 10, a maximum of 3,436 posts will be filled for English subject,followed by 3,423 in Hindi and 2,320 in science. In Classes 11 and 12, the maximum, or 2,704 vacancies, are in Non-Rashtriya Bhasha (NRB) subject followed by 1,971 in English and 1,919 in physics.

Bihar TRE results 2023
Bihar’s additional chief secretary (cabinet secretariat) S Siddharth had on September 17 told reporters after the cabinet meeting that the recruitment process of 69,692 teachers will start once the BPSC completes the ongoing recruitment of 1.70 lakh teachers.
BPSC had conducted the Teachers Recruitment Examination (TRE) for recruitment of 1,70,461 teachers from August 24 to 26, 2023. Atul Prasad, Chairman of BPSC had on September 17 said that the Bihar TRE result 2023 will be announced in mid-October.
BPSC has extended the last date to download BPSC OMR sheet 2023 for the school teacher exam till October 15. BPSC TRE result 2023 will be announced on BPSC official website at bpsc.bih.nic.in.
