BPRD invites applications for paid internship from PG, research students

NEW DELHI: The Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD), under the ministry of home affairs, has invited applications for a paid internship programme. Students pursuing postgraduate, MPhil and PhD degrees are eligible to apply. The last date to apply for the internship is February 28.

Established in 1970, the BPRD undertakes studies of police and prison problems, and promotes the application of technology in police work, developing training programmes for police and prison personnel. It also advises the government on the modernisation of Indian police forces . It provides two types of internship opportunities, one of 30 days and the other of two months.

BPRD internship eligibility criteria

Candidates pursuing PG, MPhil or PhD in any of the following subjects are eligible:

• Criminology

• Sociology

• Social work

• Psychology

• Law

• Forensic psychology

• Human rights

• Public administration

• Public policy and governance

• Information technology

• Police and prison studies

• Cyber security

• Cyber forensics and information security

• Police and prison administration

• Computer science

• Management

“Candidates who are enrolled in any other subjects related to police or prisons-correctional administration issues are also eligible for the internship,” said a statement from BPRD.

According to the notice, applications have to be forwarded to the bureau by the head of the concerned department of the candidates’ university. “Applications which are not forwarded through the head of the department will be rejected. Students who already enrolled for the internship programme earlier are not eligible to apply again,” said the statement.

BPRD internship salary

Candidates who get selected for the internship will be paid a stipend amount of Rs 8,000 per month. Interns outside Delhi will also be provided train fare to New Delhi and back to their place of study.
