The BPSC candidates demanded the cancellation of the normalisation policy and a single set of questions for all shifts, as per earlier practices. According to the candidates, the commission’s decision to implement normalisation has caused confusion and could lead to discrepancies in evaluation.

Based on social media reports, when police asked the candidates to vacate the area outside the BPSC office, they refused to comply. Following this, the police carried out a lathi charge, chasing and beating the protesters. After being dispersed, the candidates regrouped and marched again towards the commission’s office with banners and posters

Sharing their opinion on the BPSC protest, an X user said, “LATHI CHARGE ON STUDENTS IS A COMPLETE ACT OF BARBARISM! It's time to condemn such brutal actions and protect our students' rights to peaceful protest!”. “Shocking! A woman hit by police during the 70th BPSC protest for demanding No Normalisation in Exam. Is this how we uphold democracy? Stop attacking voices for justice,” another user posted on X.

“We never said that we are going to implement normalisation in this exam. Even the advertisement did not mention anything of the sort. Since the commission never stated that it would be implemented, why should it provide clarification on this matter?" said BPSC secretary, Satya Prakash Sharma
