The best entrance exams for BTech in India depend on the institution and specific engineering fields candidates wish to pursue. Here are some of the top BTech entrance exams:

• Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main: JEE Main is a national-level exam that serves as a gateway for admission into institutions like the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other centrally funded technical institutes.
• Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced: Conducted for admission into the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), JEE Advanced is highly competitive and regarded as one of the toughest exams for engineering aspirants in India.
• Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT): BITSAT is the entrance exam for BTech programmes at BITS Pilani and its other campuses.

The MHT CET 2025 will serve as the entrance exam for BTech admissions across engineering colleges in Maharashtra. Registrations are expected to start in January, following last year’s timeline. Indian nationals who have completed Class 12 or an equivalent qualification are eligible to apply for the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test. The exam will follow a multiple-choice format, with three papers, each carrying 100 marks.

Approximately 30,000 BTech seats in Karnataka’s engineering colleges remain vacant despite multiple rounds of KCET and COMEDK counselling for 2024. The Karnataka Common Entrance Test and Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka Undergraduate Entrance Test facilitate admissions to engineering programmes in state colleges. The vacancies are attributed to a significant increase in seat availability and a recent fee hike. The All India Council for Technical Education lifted its restriction on establishing new engineering colleges last year.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has retained the 75% criterion for the Joint Entrance Examination - Main.

The JEE Main registration link is available on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, and the last date 2024 to apply is November 22 up to 9 pm.

 The authority will update the VITEEE 2025 application form link on the official website, vit.ac.in.

As per the JEE exam pattern, each subject will have two sections. The section A will include Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and section B will contain questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value.

The JEE Mains 2025 exam will be held in different languages including Assamese, Bengali, Marathi, Odia, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Tamil, Hindi, English, Telugu, and Urdu and Gujarati.

The authorities will soon release the BITSAT 2025 eligibility criteria on the official website of BITSAT at bitsasmission.com.

Candidates can apply for JEE (Main) 2025 session 1 and session 2 through the “Online” mode only. The application form in any other mode will not be accepted. 

The reservation criteria for JEE Mains 2025 are as follows: 

• General category belonging to Economically Weaker Section (GEN- EWS) – 10% of seats in every course.

• Other Backward Classes belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer (OBC- NCL) – 27% of seats in every course.

• Scheduled Caste (SC) – 15% of seats in every course. 4. Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 7.5% of seats in every course. 

• Persons with Disability/ Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwD, PwBD) – 5% seats in each of the General, GEN-EWS, OBC- NCL, SC and ST category seats.

There is no age limit for candidates participating in JEE Main 2025. Individuals who have completed their Class 12 or equivalent examination in 2023 or 2024, or those who are set to appear in 2025, are eligible to take the JEE Main 2025 exam, regardless of their age. 

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) will hold the GUJCET 2025 on March 23. Registrations for GUJCET 2025 are set to commence on January 25.

• Age limit: Students born on or after July 1, 2003, are eligible to take the AEEE 2024 exam.
• Educational qualifications: Candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination. Those appearing for their exams in 2024 are also eligible but must submit the necessary documents before the deadline. Additionally, candidates need to secure an aggregate of 60% marks in Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics, with a minimum of 55% in each individual subject.
• Nationality: As per Amrita University's eligibility criteria for BTech, both Indian and foreign nationals are eligible to apply for the AEEE exam.

The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) began the registration process for MET 2025 on October 14. Aspirants can submit their applications for the Manipal Entrance Test through the official website, manipal.edu. Candidates who have completed Class 12 from a recognized board with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) are eligible to apply.

Approximately 30,000 BTech seats are vacant in engineering colleges across Karnataka despite multiple rounds of counselling for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) and the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka Under Graduate Entrance Test (COMEDK) 2024. These entrance tests are conducted for admission to engineering programmes in state colleges. The vacant seats are attributed to a significant increase in the number of seats available and a rise in fees. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) lifted the ban on establishing new engineering colleges a year ago.

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) conducts the WBJEE for admission to engineering and other programmes at colleges throughout the state. The exam consists of two papers, with the question paper featuring multiple-choice questions totaling 200 marks. Students must pay an application fee of Rs 500, while female and reserved category applicants are required to pay Rs 400.

Students who meet the following eligibility criteria will be allowed to appear for the entrance exam:

• AEEE age limit: Candidates whose date of birth falls between July 1, 2004, and June 30, 2009, are eligible for BTech admission at Amrita University.
• Educational qualification: Candidates must have passed Class 10 and Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognized board, achieving a minimum aggregate of 60% in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, with no less than 55% in each of these three subjects. Those appearing for the board exams in 2025 are also eligible.
• JEE Main 2025: Candidates must qualify either JEE Main 2025 or the AEEE 2025 to be considered for admission.

Candidates can refer to the marking scheme for OJEE 2025 outlined below:

• 4 marks will be awarded for each correct answer.
• 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect attempt.
• No marks will be given for unanswered questions.

The registration deadline for GUJCET 2025 is February 25. Eligible candidates can fill out the GUJCET 2025 application form through the official website, gujcet.gseb.org.

The last date to apply for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 is November 22. To complete the JEE Main application form for 2025, candidates must submit a photograph, signature, marksheet, and other necessary documents. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the JEE Main 2025 application form, which includes details on the required documents along with their respective file sizes and formats for registration.

The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) will soon announce the exam date and registration date for VITEEE 2025 on its official website, viteee.vit.ac.in. The application process is anticipated to begin in the first week of November, with the exam likely scheduled for April 2025. This exam is conducted annually for admission to the undergraduate engineering programmes offered by the institute.

To ensure a seamless experience for the SRMJEEE online proctored exam, candidates must verify that their system meets the following technical requirements:

• A laptop with a functional camera and microphone.
• A processor of at least Intel i3 (4th Generation) or an equivalent CPU.
• A minimum of 4 GB of RAM.
• An internet speed of at least 1 Mbps.
• A minimum of 2 GB of free storage on the hard disk.
• Operating systems: Windows 8 or higher, or macOS 10.14 Mojave and above.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has reduced the number of international exam cities for JEE Main 2025 from 24 to 14. New cities added this year include Bahrain, Indonesia, Kuwait, Malaysia, Germany, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and Abu Dhabi and Sharjah in the UAE, as well as Washington, D.C.

Conversely, several locations have been removed from this year's list, including Sri Lanka, Qatar, Dubai in the UAE, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, Mauritius, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, and Vietnam.

According to the age limit criteria, candidates born on or after July 1, 2004, and up to June 30, 2009, are eligible to take the entrance exam. Additionally, students must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognized board, achieving a minimum aggregate of 60% in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, with at least 55% in each of these three subjects.

To be eligible for VITEEE 2025, candidates must achieve a minimum aggregate of 60% in physics, chemistry, and mathematics or biology in their qualifying examination. However, candidates from the SC and ST categories, as well as those from Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and the Northeastern states, are required to secure a minimum of 50%.

A score of over 110 marks is generally considered good in the SRMJEEE exam.

The BITSAT 2025 exam will have a duration of 3 hours and will be conducted in online mode, consisting solely of multiple-choice questions.

In the event of a tie between candidates with identical total National Testing Agency (NTA) scores, the following criteria will be applied sequentially to resolve the tie:

• Higher NTA score in Mathematics
• Higher NTA score in Physics
• Higher NTA score in Chemistry
• Lower ratio of incorrect answers to correct answers across all subjects in the test
• Lower ratio of incorrect answers to correct answers in Mathematics
• Lower ratio of incorrect answers to correct answers in Physics

Amrita University will conduct the Amrita Engineering Entrance Examination (AEEE) in two phases, scheduled for February and April. According to the announced schedule, the last date for registration for AEEE Phase 1 is January 20. The university offers admission to Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programmes based on the marks obtained in the Joint Entrance Examination - Main (JEE Main) or AEEE 2025.

SRMIST aspirants can use the SRMJEEE rank predictor tool to estimate their ranks based on their SRMJEEE scores. This tool helps candidates gauge the likelihood of admission to specific college campuses.

The SRMJEEE result will include the following details: the candidate's personal information, roll number, SRMJEEE application number, percentile score, merit rank, and qualifying status, indicating whether the candidate has passed the exam.

BITS Pilani will soon announce the BITS Admission Test (BITSAT 2025) exam date and information bulletin for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes at its campuses in Pilani, Hyderabad, and Goa. The BITSAT exam 2025 will be held in two sessions for a duration of 3 hours each. The question paper will test candidates’ knowledge in physics, chemistry, English proficiency and logical reasoning, and mathematics or biology.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham will be conducting the Amrita Entrance Examination – Engineering (AEEE 2025) phase 1 exams on February 1 and 2. Candidates seeking admission at Amrita university campuses for BTech courses will have to submit their application by January 20. The registration date was extended recently. 

The NTA will conduct the national-level engineering entrance exam, JEE Mains 2025, in two sessions. JEE Main session 1 exams will be held between January 22 to January 31 and session 2 exams from April 1 to 8.
