Business Blasters: Delhi government school students bag investments for start-up ideas

NEW DELHI: Delhi government’s ‘Business Blasters’ programme’s fifth episode which aired on December 26, 2021 drew praise from masses. The Sunday episode featured Delhi government school students with their innovative business ideas.

The first team comprising nine students from Class 12 demonstrated a safe kitchen device. This digital device could prevent gas leakage by using an alarm. “Most gas leak preventive alarms available in the market are costly. Our team intends to help with a cost-effective alarm at just Rs 700,” said Aman, the team leader. The team received 40 orders for their device. Currently, they are working on an advanced model of the alarm. The team earned a combined investment of up to Rs 80,000 from investors on the show.

The second team comprises five girls who intend to expand their venture called ‘Rangbahar Apparels’ through participation in fashion shows and showcasing unique designs with the tie and dye technique on a high-quality fabric. The team got Rs 60,000 investment and a space for their team along with orders and provision of fabric from Divya Gupta, co-founder and CEO of Momsjoy.com.

The third team ‘Light Craft’, of 7 members, demonstrated an automatic LED bulb. This bulb is charged with a battery during the day and lights up in absence of electricity. “The main motive of this idea is to provide light in my village in Uttar Pradesh,” said Rehman, the team leader. The team got a combined investment of Rs. 70,000, and have been receiving orders from social media platforms.

Business Blasters Delhi project is part of the Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum (EMC) curriculum launched by the AAP government for classes 10 and 12, where students are provided with Rs. 2000 each to build on an idea for business opportunities, or to develop a solution for a social problem.

The EMC of Delhi government schools seeks to encourage students to explore their career paths. The curriculum introduced by the Kejriwal government helps students to learn problem-solving in the real world and trains them to become successful in a business or job.
