NEW DELHI: A total of 2,22,184 candidates appeared for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2022 exam, as per official. CAT convenor professor Ashis Mishra said, “this is more than 86%”. The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore conducted the CAT exam on November 27 for admission to MBA, graduate management programmes in IIMs and participating institutions. Around 2.56 lakh candidates had registered for the exam.
The exam was held in three shifts – slot 1 from 08:30 am to 10:30 am, slot 2 from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm, and slot 3 from 4:30 pm to 06:30 pm – across 150 cities in India. According to students’ reactions, this year’s exam was moderately difficult in comparison to last year.

Earlier, IIM Bangalore said that the entrance exam witnessed an increase of 11 percent in overall registrations and 6 percent in registration of category candidates this year. For the first time, digital campaigns were organised to create awareness on the commencement of CAT 2022 applications and on the extension of the deadline.
Around 2.22 lakh candidates appeared for the exam out of 2.55 lakhs registered eligible candidates. The overall attendance was approximately 87%. Out of the 2.22 lakh candidates taken the exam, 35% were females, 65% males and 4 candidates represent transgender.

CAT 2022 announcements were released in publications in the Northeast and in all Union Territories, IIMB informed. It further said that test centres were also set up in new locations – Northeast (Manipur, Tripura, etc.) and Union Territories (Lakshadweep, Dadra, Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Ladakh and Leh). Two payment gateways were provided for CAT 2022 which allowed the students to experience hassle-free registration.
