CAT 2023 registration date out; fee rises for all categories; changes this year

Use NowNEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow will start the registration process for the Common Admission Test (CAT) for admission to postgraduate MBA programmes from August 2.

This year, the IIMs have made slight changes in the CAT 2023 registration fee. The candidates will have to pay more for registering for the exam. Students belonging to SC, ST and PwD categories will have to pay Rs 1,200 as registration fee instead of Rs 1,150. Students of other categories will have to pay Rs 2,400 as registration fee. Last year, it was Rs 2,300.

The candidates will also have the choice to choose the exam centre for more cities. The CAT exam 2023 will be held in 155 cities across the country instead of 150 cities. The candidates will have to choose six cities in order of their preference.
There has been no change in the duration and pattern of the exam. The test will be of two hours and carry 66 multiple choice questions. The test will be divided into three sections – verbal ability and reading comprehension, data interpretation and logical reasoning and quantitative ability.
Each section will be allotted 40 minutes and candidates won’t be able to switch the sections after they have started attempting one.

The students aspiring to appear for the examination should have cleared bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks (45% if the student belongs to SC, ST category). If the student is appearing in the final year of the undergraduate degree then he will have to submit a certificate signed by the institute principal or registrar during the admission, mentioning he/she meets the requirements for obtaining a bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate.
The candidates will be able to download their admit cards from October 25 onwards. The result of CAT 2023 will be declared in the second week of January next year. The result of CAT 2023 will be applicable for admission to various IIMs and other participating colleges, universities and institutes till December 31, 2024.
