CAT 2024: IIM Calcutta warns of fraud registration website; urges candidates to report suspicious activity

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institution of Management (IIM) Calcutta, has issued a notice, warning candidates about a fraudulent website impersonating the official Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 registration portal. According to the official notice, this fraud website is designed to trick applicants into providing personal information, thereby compromising their security.

The notice mentions that the CAT 2024 official website for registration is iimcat.ac.in, as advertised in reliable newspapers. The notice urges applicants to verify the URL before entering any personal details and to avoid unsecured websites that request sensitive information or payments.

CAT 2024: Caution against fraudulent websites

The official notice read, "We urge all applicants and stakeholders to be cautious and visit only our official website and not fall prey to spurious or malicious websites engaging in pharming, phishing that resemble the official CAT website. The CAT official website is https://iimcat.ac.in, as advertised in several newspapers, and there is no other website for CAT."

CAT 2024: Guidelines to avoid scams

To safeguard against potential scams, the CAT Centre has mentioned the following guidelines for applicants:

• Verify the URL- Ensure that the website address is correct and matches the official CAT website.
• Beware of Phishing, Pharming attacks- Be cautious of malicious websites that mimic the official site to steal personal data.
• Report suspicious activity: Candidates are urged to report any unusual or suspicious activity to the CAT help desk at cat2024helpdesk@iimcal.ac.in.

CAT 2024 exam on November 24

The IIM Calcutta has commenced the CAT 2024 registration and the last date to submit the forms is September 13. CAT 2024 exam will be held on November 24. The CAT 2024 admit card will be issued on November 4. The CAT 2024 exam will be held in three shifts – first shift will be from 8:30 am to 10:30 am, second shift from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm and third shift from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The CAT 2024 exam will be held in online mode.
