Check NowThe Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the results for the CBSE Class 10 board exams 2026 for first phase, today, for over 20 lakh students at cbse.nic.in. Students who fail to appear for three to four subjects in the first phase will not be allowed to appear in the CBSE Class 10 second phase exams, according to the two-exam policy. Last year, the board introduced the CBSE Class 10 two exam system for the board exams 2026. The objective of holding the CBSE Class 10 board exams twice is to help students improve their marks without losing a year.
CBSE Class 10 second board exams 2026 will be held only for those subjects with the external assessment component weighing more than 50% , practicals will be held only once, as per the board’s guidelines.

CBSE Two-Board Exam Policy 2026
According to Rahul Singh, chairperson of the CBSE board: “It is estimated that around 40% of the candidates would appear in each of the main subjects in the second board exams at maximum.”
With the CBSE two-board exam policy in place, the move will reduce the workload of evaluation on teachers, Singh said.
Now that the board has declared the CBSE Class 10 board results 2026 for first phase, it will open the List of Candidates (LoC) registration soon for the CBSE Class 10 second attempt exams.
According to the rule for the two-board exam policy, the CBSE Class 10 first board exams are compulsory for all students. Those who wish to improve their performance in any three subjects out of science, mathematics, social science and languages are eligible to sit for the CBSE second board exams 2026.
Notably, students with compartments or who have failed in more than three to four subjects are not allowed to appear in the CBSE Class 10 second attempt.
