NEW DELHI: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made a special scheme for the academic year 2021-22 for conducting the exams. In the next year, the board has decided to conduct CBSE Classes 10 and 12 exams in two terms with a 50% syllabus in each term.

The entire session will be divided into 2 terms by following a systematic approach by looking into the interconnectivity of concepts and topics. The exams for both classes will be held at the end of each term on the basis of the bifurcated syllabus. The board took this decision to increase the probability of conducting CBSE 10th, 12th exams at the end of the academic session.

This academic year 2020-21, the board was unable to conduct CBSE 10th and 12th exams due to COVID-19. The board had to cancel both classes CBSE board exam 2021 during the second wave.

CBSE syllabus 2021-22 reduced

Like last year, the board will rationalize the Class 10 and 12 CBSE exam syllabus for the academic year 2021-22. Schools will also use alternative academic calendars and inputs from the NCERT on transacting the curriculum. Students can visit the official website, cbseacademic.nic.in to check the latest syllabus.

This year, the board is also aiming to make Internal Assessment/ Practical/ Project work more credible and valid for ensuring the fair distribution of marks.

Know about Term I examinations

  • Term I board exams will be held at the end of first term (November-December 2021) within a period of 4-8 weeks.

  • The question paper will contain Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) including case-based MCQs and MCQs on assertion-reasoning type.

  • The duration of the CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th exam will be 90 minutes.

  • Students will have to mark their answers on the OMR sheet provided.

  • Marks of Term I exams will be added to the overall marks of the student.

Know about Term II examinations

  • Term II board exams will be conducted around March-April 2022 at the end of second term.

  • The duration will be of 2 hours and the paper will have case-based/ situation based, open ended- short answer/ long answer type questions.

  • In case the situation is not conducive for normal descriptive examination, the board may conduct a 90 minute MCQ based exam also.
