CBSE to hold CTET 2025 on February 8

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the exam date for the December session of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2025. As per CBSE CTET notification 2025, the 21st edition of the exam will be held on February 8, 2026.

CTET 2025 will comprise two papers. Paper 1 will be conducted for the appointment of school teachers of Classes 1 to 5 and paper 2 will be held for Classes 6 to 8. The test will be administered in 20 languages in 132 cities across the country.

CBSE informed that CTET 2025 information bulletin containing details of examination, syllabus, languages, eligibility criteria, examination fee, exam cities and important dates will be available on the official website – ctet.nic.in – shortly. The board asked the aspirants to download the information bulletin and read it carefully before applying for the exam.

As per the CTET exam pattern trends, the question paper will consist of multiple choice questions. Each paper will contain 150 questions carrying one mark each. The language of the question paper will be both English and Hindi.

Supreme Court CTET mandate

CTET will apply to schools of the central government (KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, etc.) and those under the administrative control of of Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and Delhi. It may also apply to the unaided private schools. A state government can also consider holding the exam if it decides not to conduct the state TET.

Recently, the Supreme Court mandated CTET for in-service teachers following which the government school teachers urged the Delhi government to file a review petition. The apex court has made it mandatory for all teachers in all states to clear TET for promotions.
