CBSE asks school officials to not visit East Delhi office due to Dhirendra Krishna Shastri’s ‘Hanuman Katha’

NEW DELHI : The East Delhi office of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked schools within its jurisdiction to not visit the office from July 5 to July 8 on account of the ‘Hanuman Katha’ event by Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri.

Delhi Police have imposed traffic curbs around the IP Extension area in East Delhi where the event is being held.

CBSE, in the notice addressed to all school principals in East Delhi, said that the estimated gathering for the event would be “more than one lakh people” and that schools “are advised to avoid visit” to the regional office.

CBSE also instructed schools to use “official communication through online mode (email or telephonic)”. It also instructed school authorities to use public transport in case of unavoidable circumstances. School authorities are also instructed to carry a valid identity card with them.

“It has been informed by the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, East District, Delhi, that ‘Hanuman Katha’ is scheduled to be held from July 5 to July 8 by Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bageshwar Dham at Utsav Maidan, IP Extension, Delhi. In this connection, the undersigned is directed to inform you to please refer to the guidelines to avoid any inconvenience during this period as the estimated gathering of more than one lakh people are expected,” the CBSE said in the notice.

A CBSE official said that the notice was issued to help schools in accordance with traffic restrictions imposed due to the event.

"This is a traffic advisory for schools as per the instructions received from DCP East District Delhi. The intent was to facilitate schools to plan in accordance with the traffic restrictions and regulations due to this prescheduled program," a CBSE official said.
