CBSE Schools in Kerala to launch anti-dowry campaign today: Report

NEW DELHI: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools across Kerala will today launch a unique anti-dowry campaign on Dowry Prohibition Day. Indira Rajan, secretary-general of NCCS, said students of 250 CBSE-affiliated schools in Kerala coming under our purview will take an anti-dowry pledge, according to various media reports.

CBSE schools in Kerala have also been asked to record video of the oath-taking to the Council of CBSE Schools Kerala (CCSK).

According to The Hindu , Indira Rajan said, “We will not stop with taking the oath but are set to organise a week-long campaign against dowry using children in compliance with the COVID-19 protocol. Groups of 10 students will be formed as ambassadors of change, and each student will take the awareness message against dowry to four households in her neighbourhood.”

The report further said that the details collected by these students will be collected and a summary of which will be sent to all state and central ministers and curriculum committee.

Students will also be given guidelines for the messaging in the households.

Today, CBSE schools are also celebrating Constitution Day. “As part of the celebrations, a number of activities aimed at highlighting and reiterating the values and principles enshrined in the Constitution are being organised. This year Constitution Day is going to be celebrated as a part of ‘Azadi Ki Amrit Mahotsav’,” the official notice said.

CBSE also requested all school heads to encourage students to join the mass reading of the Preamble by President Ram Nath Kovind at 11 AM from their respective locations.

“Students should also be encouraged to participate in reading of preamble and participate in the online quiz. Webinars/any other activity befitting the occasion may also be organized on 26th November 2021 while keeping COVID protocols in mind',” it added.
