CBSE ties up with 15 organizations to promote skill education, training of teachers

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has signed agreements with 15 different organizations to promote skill education and capacity building of teachers so that students get diverse expertise and exposure to emerging technologies.

The board has tied up with sector skill providers such as Atal Innovation Mission, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, apparel made-ups and home furnishing sector skill council, automotive sector skill council, sports, physical education, fitness and leisure skills council, logistics sector skill council, furniture and fittings sector skill council, life sciences sector skill council, textiles sector skill council, healthcare sector skill council.

The organizations will also help the board in preparing skill modules, study material for skill subjects, and organising competitions or hackathons for students and training of teachers.

“The NEP emphasizes stronger collaboration between academia and industry. The curriculum needs to be aligned with industry requirements, making provision for internships and apprenticeships for students to promote industry exposure. It is equally important to update the capacity of teachers for desired outcomes. CBSE through these initiatives has thus entered into strategic partnerships for the skill development, education and training,” CBSE said in a statement.

CBSE added that the Central Square Foundation (CSF) will support the board in SAFAL, a competency-based census assessment for grades 3, 5, 8 for school development. The partners will prepare quality competency-based assessments for conducting SAFAL for grades 3, 5, 8.

Educational Initiatives Pvt Ltd and Oxford University Press India will develop training modules on the development of Competency Based Capacity Building Programme (CBP) for teachers in English, mathematics, science and social science, updation of existing CBP on strengthening assessment and evaluation and development of training materials and in the development of Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on National Curriculum Framework Foundational Stage (NCF-FS).
