Bihar tops the list of the ASM, ASSS scheme of financial assistance with Rs 17.78 crore, while Manipur gets the lowest amount.
The Ministry of Education has stated that a total of Rs 82.72 crore has been spent on 26 institutions approved under the Adarsh Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya (ASM) and Adarsh Sanskrit Shodha Sansthan (ASSS) scheme for the financial year 2024-25. Bihar received the highest funding of Rs 17.78 crore across five institutions, followed by Uttar Pradesh with Rs 11.76 crore for three institutions, according to data shared by the education ministry in the Lok Sabha.
Manipur received the least amount, with Rs 0.71 crore released to a single institution, Radha Madhava Adarsh Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya in Nambol.
Responding to a question raised in the Lok Sabha about the details of schemes implemented to promote Sanskrit across the country, the government said that the Central Sanskrit University in Delhi is implementing 11 central schemes dedicated to the promotion of Sanskrit, Pali, and Prakrit languages.
The ministry also noted that while 26 institutions are currently receiving assistance, 31 new proposals are under consideration, and that there is no fixed deadline for approvals under the scheme as per the current guidelines.
