NEW DELHI: The Chandigarh University has become the first private university in the country to be granted the accreditation of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). The accreditation has been granted for its computer science and engineering programmes.
ABET is an international organisation that accredits college and university programmes in applied and natural science, engineering, engineering technology and computing. The university said students will get more opportunities globally due to the ABET accreditations. Ultimately, it ensures that the students’ degrees will be recognised by employers and professional licensing bodies, facilitating their professional growth and mobility. The accreditation will enhance the reputation and credibility of the university’s degrees, the CU said.
The ABET assesses various aspects such as faculty, curriculum, research opportunities, facilities, and student outcomes before granting the accreditations. ABET accreditation ensures that educational programmes meet specific quality standards set by industry professionals, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for their careers.
Students can now be confident that their time in Chandigarh University will yield fruitful returns in their academic and professional career, the university said.
