The cabinet has decided to conduct the admission process in Chhattisgarh educational institutions under the pre-existing reservation system.
NEW DELHI: The Chhattisgarh government will now allow pre-existing 58% reservation in college admissions. A meeting of the council of ministers, held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, made the decision to complete the admission process under the pre-existing reservation system in the educational institutions of the state.
The Chhattisgarh government had filed a special leave petition before the Supreme Court against the High Court order on reservation. Based on the SLP, the Supreme Court gave an interim relief in the context of the appointment. And according to the interim relief given in the context of appointment, it has been said to implement reservation in admission in educational institutions as well, a CMO statement issued in this regard said.
“This decision of the Hon'ble Supreme Court at New Delhi in S.L.P. (C) No. 19668/2022 will be subject to final decision. In the letter, all departments of the government, Chairman Chhattisgarh Revenue Board, all Divisional Commissioners, Head of Departments, District President and Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat have been asked to ensure compliance of the above instructions,” it added.
The current order stayed a High Court decision that invalidated an order to implement the 58% reservation in admissions in educational institutions.
