NEW DELHI: The Chhattisgarh department of school education and literacy has started the application process for National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMSS) for students of Class 8. Candidates who have secured a minimum of 55% in Class 7 will be eligible to register for the NMMS examination 2023 at scert.cg.gov.in. The exam will be held on December 10, 2023.

The scholarship is awarded to the meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections (EWS) studying in Class 8 in the state. The Chhattisgarh NMMS exam will be held in a total of 146 exam centres across the state. There will be no application fee, the state education department said. The last date to submit Chhatisgarh NMMS application 2023 is September 8.
NMMS Exam 2023: Eligibility criteria
- Students should be studying in a government, government aided school to avail the scholarship.
- Should have secured 55% in Class 7. Five percent relaxation will be given to students belonging to SC, ST.
- The annual gross income of the student's father or guardian should not exceed Rs 3.5 lakh.
Under the NMMS scholarship scheme, 2,246 has been allocated quota for Chhattisgarh. Students who are selected will get Rs 1,000 per month from Class 9 to 12. Students who are selected will get the benefit of any one scholarship under the scholarship scheme provided by the government.
Those students studying in Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Vidyalaya, non-government school, residential school are not eligible to apply.
Chhattisgarh NMMS 2023: Documents required
Students will have to submit the following documents while applying for the scholarship.
- Income certificate issued by the government not older than March 31, 2022.
- Class 7 mark sheet.
- Caste Certificate for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students.
NMMS exam pattern 2023
The exam will have two papers, paper 1 will be held from 10 AM to 11.30 AM and paper 2 from 1 PM to 2.30 PM.
