Amidst everything,
CLAT 2022
was held on June 19, 2022, from 2-4 pm. Finally, the wait was over and no postponement was made in this regard. The exam appeared moderately easy at the onset and comparatively near to CLAT 2021 exam. All the other sections were visibly easy except for current affairs which were tricky and a lengthy English language.

Quantitative techniques
Beginning with quantitative techniques, all the three questions were caselets (one caselet was identical to the legal edge mock). No graph-based questions were asked this year. The section broadly included 2 topics- Ratio and proportion (one caselet) and Percentage (2 caselets). The calculation involved was not too lengthy and answers were in Integral values. All caselets were mostly calculation based where not many formulas were required.
Difficulty level:
Easy
Time:
14-15 minutes (4-5 minutes for each question)
Good attempt:
15 questions

Logical reasoning
Coming onto the logical reasoning, all of the questions were based on critical reasoning, no analytical reasoning was included this year. All passages were at the easy-moderate level. The passages based on the Child Offences Act, and the COVID-19 outbreak were on the easier side although the passage based on Biodiversity, and Judges Humor were a little difficult to interpret none of the passages was lengthy. The questions were mostly contextual.
Difficulty level:
Easy
Time:
25-30 minutes
Good attempt:
25-30 questions
English language
The English language section appeared to be slightly longer in comparison to other sections. The section was standard only. 3 Reading Comprehensions out of 6 were easy based on day-to-day familiarity but another 3 were a little technical i.e. they could be a little tricky in interpretation if you’re not familiar with the topics. No passages were fictional or book extracts, everything was non-fictional. Most of the questions were inference based to analyze students’ thought processes. The type of questions was central idea questions, tones, contextual vocabulary, etc. A usual newspaper reader would have benefitted much in this section.
Difficulty level:
Easy but slightly lengthy
Time:
30-35 minutes
Good attempt:
20-25 questions

General knowledge and current affairs
The current affairs section was a little tricky this year. The questions were majorly direct. The questions appeared not too difficult at the onset but the options did all the trick. The topics were given at all horizontal lengths. Options were similar and out of the loop. There were some irrelevant questions as well. The passages were based on Drone rules, 2021, Science and technology, SAGAR mission, ISRO, etc.
Difficulty level:
Moderate (difficult passages with moderate questions)
Time:
10-12 minutes
Good attempt:
25-30 questions

Legal reasoning
Lastly, the legal reasoning section was pretty easy. It was largely on predictable lines. The passages were based on Monism and dualism, Special Marriage Act, Contract Act, Bigamy and Constitution. All the passages were from the major laws and the questions were easy as well. Passages were short and not lengthy.
Difficulty level:
Easy
Time:
35-40 minutes
Good attempt:
33-37 questions
Overall, the exam was on mostly predictable lines and fairly on the easier side for most sections. The good attempts this year would fall somewhere 120-130 questions and the expected cutoff could be similar to CLAT 2021. Prepare thoroughly for AILET and SLAT. The answer key for CLAT 2022 will be out soon so, don’t stress out, relax and prepare well. You got this!
All the very best!
