CLAT 2025 Result Revision: Supreme Court to hear Consortium of NLUs' pleas over case transfer today

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will hear petitions from the Consortium of National Law Universities regarding Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025 case transfer today, January 15. The petitions seek to transfer cases challenging the CLAT 2025 results from various high courts to the apex court. The CLAT 2025 was held on December 1 and results were declared on December 7.

The Consortium of NLUs has urged the Supreme Court to transfer all petitions related to CLAT 2025 , currently filed in the High Courts of Delhi, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Bombay, Madhya Pradesh, and Punjab and Haryana. CNLU has requested that the cases be consolidated in the Supreme Court or apex court. A bench comprising chief justice of India Sanjiv Khanna and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar will hear the CLAT 2025 case transfer matter today.

CLAT 2025 Court Case: Background

The CLAT 2025 results are under judicial review due to errors in the final answer key. On December 20, 2024, the Delhi High Court directed the Consortium NLUs to revise the CLAT 2025 results .

The single judge said the errors were “demonstrably clear” and “shutting a blind eye to them” would amount to injustice. “The errors in question Nos.14 and 100 are demonstrably clear and shutting a blind eye to the same would be injustice to the petitioner albeit this Court is conscious of the fact that it may impact the result of other candidates,” the court said, as per Bar and Bench.

The Delhi High Court identified two errors in set A of the question paper and asked for CLAT 2025 result revision accordingly. The errors are reported to be in questions 14 and 100. In Set A, the answer to question number 14 was changed to option C, and question number 100 was withdrawn with corresponding changes in other sets.

CLAT 2025 Result Revision: Petitioner’s argument

Aditya Singh has filed a petition challenging the single-judge bench’s decision, which dismissed three of his objections to the CLAT 2025 answer key while upholding two others. He alleges errors in the three CLAT 2025 questions - question number 37, 67, and 68 in Set A. The petitioner is seeking further revision of the final answer key and results accordingly.

CLAT 2025 Result Court Case: Consortium of NLUs’ view

As per the Consortium of NLUs, the CLAT 2025 final answer key was prepared by experts after thorough evaluation. Following the High Court's decision on December 24, the Consortium announced on its official website that it plans to challenge the verdict in the Supreme Court.

The Consortium of NLUs has also postponed the CLAT 2025 counselling process. The Consortium's official notice read, " the release of the first admission list for NLUs, originally scheduled for December 26, will be delayed and there on the counselling process. The fresh calendar to be announced after our SC appeal process and expected relief. "
