Common entrance exam for all design institutes in near future

NEW DELHI, OCTOBER 29: Industry, academicians as well as designers working in different fields such as automobile, electronic industry hold the view that steps should be taken to have one common entrance exam for various design institutes which offer courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
At an event organised by MIT institute of design, Pune and Avantika University, Ujjain along Association of Designers, where “careers in design” was being discussed, the panelists were of the opinion that there should be one entrance test. Prof. Anant M. Chakrade, who is the Dean of MIT Institute of Design asserted that though the talks have been going on for past three years, efforts are being made to bring all the stakeholders on a common platform and develop a consensus with regard to having a common entrance test.
Presently National Institute of Fashion Technology, National Institute of Design as well as other private institutes, mostly conduct their own entrance test or admit candidates on the basis of UCEED score at the undergraduate level.
Design Has a Bright Future
The panelists comprising of Saurabh Singh, DGM Design Studio, Maruti Suzuki, Ridhi Agarwal, Director Design and Communications, Anthony Lopez, founder of Lopez Design along with Prof Anant Chakradeo were of the opinion that design as career has a very bright future and will likely to grow on similar lines as engineering and management witnessed growth during 80s and 90s.
Sharing their experiences about how they ventured into the field of design, all of them asserted that they need to have a passion to take up a career in this field.
