Coronavirus: HRD Minister donates 1 month’s salary to PM relief fund

NEW DELHI: The Union Human Resource Development Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal has announced he will contribute a month’s salary as aid to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund set up to fight the coronavirus outbreak.

“I am depositing the salary of the month in the Prime Minister's Relief Fund as economic support to fight this epidemic,” Nishank said. The HRD Minister has also appealed to the students and teachers to make more and more people aware of this dangerous epidemic through various media and encourage them to follow the lockdown.

As per a release issued by the MHRD, Nishank has requested all the countrymen to remain united in the crisis and accept the appeal of the prime minister and the health department. He said: “I want to join hands with all countrymen and request that they accept the Prime Minister's appeal and stay in their own homes and cooperate in the war against this pandemic. Apart from this, whoever is fighting against this virus, financially those who want to cooperate can also deposit funds in the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.”

Keeping in mind the economic fallout of this epidemic, the government has also announced a relief package of Rs 1.7 lakh crore today.

The minister has also emphasized that due to this epidemic there will be no loss of studies of any student, but with the help of various schemes being run by the ministry, all students can continue their studies smoothly through the digital medium.
