Besides, the board has also cancelled the Class 10 Vocational exams which were scheduled from March 24 and April 4, 2020. The decision has been taken by the board due to the extension of the lockdown period. Earlier, the MSBSHSE has postponed the Class 10 Geography paper because of the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the lockdown has been further extended till April 30, 2020. Hence, the board has decided to cancel both examinations.
Maharashtra Board has also announced that the second-semester examination of Class 9 and 11 will not be conducted now. The students will be promoted to the next classes based on their performances in the first semester and internal exams. However, the Maharashtra Board is yet to decide the criteria on which the students of class 10 will be promoted to the next classes.
In a recent Video message, Varsha Gaikwad, state Education Minister, Maharashtra said "The lockdown was expected to end on April 14 but it has now been extended. Hence we have taken two decisions. The second-semester exams for class 9 and 11 will not be held and students must be promoted to the next classes on the basis of the first term exam and internal exam results. Similarly, we have also decided to cancel the pending Geography and pending vocational subjects papers for SSC students."
