NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will start the Common University Entrance Test (CUCET) or CUET 2022 registration on April 2. The UGC and NTA released the official CUCET notification today, March 27, on the official website cuet.samarth.ac.in and nta.ac.in.

The CUET UG 2022 will provide a single-window opportunity to students to seek admission in any of the Central Universities (CUs) across the country. For the first time, the NTA will be conducting CUCET 2022 for the 45 central universities. However, these universities will have the option to choose the admission process.

The UGC in the official notice explained the CUET syllabus, exam structure, number of attempts and broad features of the common entrance test in the NTA CUCET 2022 notification released today.

“The CUCET online application forms for Undergraduate Programmes will open from 02.04.2022, the link for the same will be made available on the official website cuet.samarth.ac.in,” the NTA said in the latest notice. The CUCET application will be open from April 2 to 30, the NTA said.

CUCET 2022: Exam Pattern

As per the CUCET exam structure, there will be four sections. The CUET 2022 question paper will include a compulsory language test, two domain-specific tests, and the general test.

Section 1A Languages - There are 13 different languages. Any of these languages may be chosen.

Section IB - Languages - There are 19 languages. Any other language apart from those offered in Section IA may be chosen.

Candidates must attempt 40 questions out of 50 in each language. As per the official notice, the CUCET 2022 language exam will be tested through reading comprehension, based on different types of passages– factual, literary and narrative, (Literary Aptitude and Vocabulary). Aspirants will be given 45 minutes for each language.

Section II - Domain - There are 27 domains specific subjects being offered under this section. A candidate may choose a maximum of six (06) domains as desired by the applicable university. Candidates have to attempt 40 questions out of 50 in Section II as well.

The question type for this section will be MCQs based on NCERT Class 12 syllabus only. The CUCET 2022 exam time duration for this section is also 45 minutes for each domain-specific subjects.

Section III General Test - For any such undergraduate programme, programmes are being offered by universities where a general test is being used for admission. In this case, aspriants have to attempt 60 questions out of 75.

The question type for this section will be general knowledge, current affairs, general mental ability, numerical ability, quantitative reasoning (simple application of basic mathematical concepts arithmetic/algebra geometry/mensuration/stat taught till Class 8, logical and analytical reasoning. Input text can be used for MCQ based questions, the CUET notice read. The total time duration for this section is 60 minutes.

The NTA will conduct the entrance exam of CUET 2022 in 13 languages namely Hindi, Punjabi, Assamese, Bengali, Odia, Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Urdu and English.

The CUCET 2022 will be held for 27 domains including accountancy, biology, biotechnology, economics, history, performing arts like dance, theatre, music, arts, and more.

CUCET 2022: Things to remember

The NTA said in the notice that choosing options from each section is not mandatory. Choices should match the requirements of the desired University.

  • A candidate can choose a maximum of any 3 languages from Section IA and Section IB taken together. (One of the languages chosen needs to be in lieu of Domain specific subjects)
  • Section II offers 27 subjects, out of which a candidate may choose a maximum of 6 subjects.
  • Section III comprises General Test.
  • For choosing Languages (upto 3) from Section IA and IB and a maximum of 6 Subjects from Section II and General Test under Section III, the Candidate must refer to the requirements of his/her intended University.
