CUET UG 2024: How will NTA conduct the exam this year? Changes in exam pattern

NEW DELHI: In a first, the Common University Entrance Test for undergraduate (CUET UG 2024) exam will be held in both pen and paper and computer-based test mode. The CUET UG 2024 application form 2024 was made available on the official website, cuetug.ntaonline.in and the information bulletin on exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG/. The last date to apply for the exam is March 26. All the 44 central universities and other participating universities will offer admission through CUET UG score and admission criteria set by them.
As per the schedule, the CUET UG exam 2024 will be held from May 15 to 31. There are 33 languages and 27 subjects. Applicants have been advised to choose any subject, language they wish to study.
The NTA has allowed candidates to participate in the counselling process of universities even if they have not applied during the registration. Similarly, it has directed the universities to admit candidates who have appeared for CUET UG irrespective of the fact that they have opted for the university.
CUET UG 2024 exam pattern
The testing agency has displayed the list of CUET UG participating colleges and courses offered on the official website. Take a look at the changes introduced in the exam pattern.
Total subjects - There are a total of 61 subjects - 33 languages, 27 domain-specific, and 1 general test.
Number of subject choices - The number of subject choices have been reduced from 10 to 6. Candidates will be allowed to opt for 4 or 5 domain subjects including general test and 1 or 2 languages. It is advisable that they choose at least one language, preferably one Indian and one foreign language.
Number of shifts - The NTA has not yet announced the exam timings. However, it said that the exam will be held in multiple days in two or three shifts a day, depending on the number of candidates and their combinations.
Medium of the test - Like last year, the third edition of CUET will also be held in 13 languages - Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
Number of questions - 40 out of 50 questions for all test papers and 50 out of 60 for the general test with a choice of 10 questions. All test papers will be held for 45 minutes except for mathematics, applied mathematics, accountancy, physics, chemistry, economics, computer science, informatics practices, and general tests which would be for 60 minutes.
Exam duration - The time duration for pen and paper mode exam is proposed to be 2 hours.
