NEW DELHI: The Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLUs) will take a call on the CLAT 2021 exam date today or latest by tomorrow. In a notification published on April 19 on the official website, the consortium had said that the exam date will be decided in the first week of May after monitoring the COVID-19 situation. However, there has been no official announcement or notification on the CLAT 2021 exam date.

The CLAT 2021 exam was scheduled to be held on June 13, 2021. It is highly likely that the exam may be postponed yet again, considering the ongoing second wave of the COVID-19 situation, which has caused anxiety among the student and parent community.

Call for CLAT postponement grows

Many students have shared their concerns on social media, including Twitter, exhorting the consortium to postpone the exam.

One student pleaded with the consortium to postpone the exam to August similar to that of the NEET 2021 exam.

Another student, Gaurav Gahlot, requested the education minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ and others, to postpone the exam, saying ‘Students lives matter’.

A student with the username @Shruti94115884, called upon Faizan Mustafa, vice-chancellor of NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad to clear the confusion surrounding the exam.

Mode of exam under the scanner

With rising COVID cases, another concern in the mind of candidates is the mode of the exam. Students have even raised the concern on whether the exam will be conducted in offline mode or online mode.

The normal thinking is that an offline exam is more susceptible to the coronavirus. Compared to it, online exams are thought to be safer. However, considering the requests on social media, not everyone is ready to buy the prospect of giving the exam in an online mode. It may be because these students have prepared for an offline exam, and a sudden change in offline to online mode may hamper their prospects.

Shanvi Thakre, another student tweeted that with necessary precautions in place, CLAT 2021 can be conducted in offline mode.
