Delhi University announces DU admission policy; Know eligibility for BA, BSc, other courses

New Delhi: Delhi University Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh on Tuesday released the admission policy of the University of Delhi (DU) for the academic year 2022-23. Calling the new admission a landmark policy, he said that the DU admission process will be done through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET 2022) issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for all the central universities of India.

Briefing about DU UG admissions, he said that except for the School of Open Learning (SOL) and National Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB), admission to all undergraduate programmes would be done through CUET 2022 only. The Vice Chancellor informed that the detailed information on DU admission 2022 is available on admission.uod.ac.in.

“It is mandatory for all the candidates to appear in CUET 2022, including those seeking admission to supernumerary seats,” he informed.

The Vice-Chancellor further said that candidates will be able to appear in CUET only in those subjects which they have studied in Class 12. The merit will also be calculated on the basis of the combination of only those subjects in which the candidate has appeared in the CUET. There will be no disadvantage to anyone on changing the stream, he added.

DU admission: Eligibility for BSc programmes

The eligibility for DU admission to most of the BSc programmes would be calculated on the basis of physics, chemistry, mathematics or biology. It is mandatory to obtain at least 30% marks in any one language in CUET.

Eligibility for DU BA programmes

For admission to Bachelor of Arts (BA) programmes, a candidate will have to appear in the entrance test in any one language from section one and in any three subjects from the other section. Merit will be calculated on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate in the same subject and language.

DU admission to BA (Hons) Economics

The Vice Chancellor informed that for admission to BA (Hons) Economics, it is mandatory for the candidates to take the test in mathematics for CUET 2022. Merit for this will be calculated on the basis of marks obtained in the chosen language, mathematics and any two subjects. However, a candidate can appear for CUET in a maximum of six subjects, out of which one must be a language subject. Best score will be considered for admission in DU.

DU admission through Sports and ECA

Yogesh Singh said that for admission through Sports and Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA), a candidate will have to appear for a performance-based tests along with the CUET. Merit for this will be made on the basis of combined score of CUET and performance-based test.

DU admissions to other programmes

For BBA, BMS, BBE candidates will have to appear in any one language, Mathematics and as per section 3 of CUET. For BA, BVoc, BCom. programmes (popularly known as "Pass" courses), candidates have the choice of a language plus one subject and a general examination or a three-subject test.

For admission to linguistic programmes, candidates can choose a particular language at CUET or take a test in any other language. However, preference will be given to those appearing in the particular language. He said that centralized e-counselling will be done after the test.

The Vice Chancellor called upon the students who want to take admission in DU that there is no special syllabus for CUET, students should study their 12th syllabus books.

In response to a question, Singh said that before each counselling, the candidate will be given a chance to re-fill his/her preference. He also said that in the 50% seats reserved for minority colleges, 85% of the marks for admission will be taken from CUET and the remaining 15% will be decided by the colleges. Admission to non-reserved 50% seats will be purely on the basis of CUET.
