NEW DELHI: The University of Delhi (DU) hosted a one-day exposure visit programme for principals of CBSE-affiliated schools under the NEP 2020. A total of 96 school principals of CBSE-affiliated schools participated in the programme.
The one-day programme was held at the Council Hall at ViceRegal Lodge and was inaugurated by DU registrar Vikas Gupta who welcomed all principals.
“He said that the objective of this program is how we can together provide proper guidance to the students for their entry from school education to higher education, especially vocational education. He said that this is a very important task,” DU statement said.
DU registrar said after completing school education students will have to opt for higher education and teachers can guide students properly for higher education. Under NEP 2020, admissions to DU are done through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) only and is therefore important.
Additionally, the registrar highlighted DU’s 102-year history and shared about the vice-chancellor internship scheme under the guidance of chancellor Yogesh Singh. Additionally, special provisions have been made by admissions for orphan children and single child.

The director of CBSE Biswajit Saha said through this programme our principals will get experience in the university system. He also said admission process in higher educational institutions is very crucial. The school principals will be given information through this programme for admissions.
"He said that Viksit Bharat is a dream and the cooperation of all of us is very important to make it a reality," the DU statement said.
On DU programme was attended by the director of the campus of Open Learning Payal Mago, the dean of academic affairs K Ratnabali; the dean of admission Haneet Gandhi, and; joint registrar academic Jay Chanda were mainly present.
After the introduction of the program, an orientation session was held. The director of the Campus of Open Learning and Chairperson of the SEC Committee of DU shared details of skill education as per NEP 2020 and UGCF 2022. She adds students have to job ready and attention will be given to skill enhancement courses. She added that 140 skill courses are running at DU.
The dean of academic affairs K Ratnabali shared information on the seamless transition from school to higher education through curricular and credit structure. She added various programme are being held in DU under NEP 2020 and the fourth year of UG is starting from this session. She said under NEP 2020 there will be provision of multiple entry and exits for students.
“ The dean admission Haneet Gandhi presented a detailed description of the admission process of DU. She said that all kinds of information are available on the admission website of DU in the form of videos and brochures. She called upon the principals to tell the students to get information only from authentic sources. After this, an interactive session was organized in which the principals cleared their queries. After that, all the principals were taken on a tour of DU’s skill laboratory and skill development centres,” the DU statement said.
