NEW DELHI: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing an additional Rs 2 crore vaccines to states to vaccinate teachers of all schools.
“To give priority in vaccination to teachers of all schools before the upcoming Teachers' Day, 5th September, I thank the Prime Minister for providing an additional 2 crore vaccines in addition to the vaccines received by the states every month. I express my heartfelt thanks,” Pradhan said.
The education minister also said that “Along with securing our future generation against Corona, this will prove to be a decisive step towards removing the obstacles in their studies due to this pandemic.”
He further requested all the state governments to give their support and cooperation to this campaign in order to strengthen the foundation of the future.
— Dharmendra Pradhan (@dpradhanbjp) August 25, 2021
As India is preparing to reopen schools, colleges and other educational institutions after being shut in March last year, state governments have been expressing concern over the teachers and staff not being completely vaccinated.
Saying that more than two crore additional COVID-19 vaccine doses are being made available to states this month, the Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya also asked to vaccinate all school teachers on priority before Teachers' Day on September 5.
