DTU partners with NCB to boost research, academia in cement, concrete technologies

Delhi Technological University (DTU) has collaborated with the National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCB) to boost research and academia in the country’s cement and construction sector. The partnership aimed to promote joint research and innovation in cement and concrete technologies.

The agreement between DTU and NCB will also enable providing training opportunities for students, professionals and stakeholders. It will also enhance skill development and capacity building across the cement and construction sector.

According to an official circular, the partnership will also strengthen knowledge exchange between academia and industry , while enabling the dissemination of best practices and technical expertise.

“The partnership is expected to contribute significantly towards advancing sustainable and resilient infrastructure in the country, while strengthening India’s construction ecosystem through improved technical capabilities and institutional collaboration,” the circular reads.

LP Singh, director general of NCB signed the agreement during an event where Binod Doley, registrar, DTU; Prateek Sharma, vice chancellor, DTU; SK Chaturvedi, Joint Director & Secretary, NCB; Sanjay Mundra, general manager & Head (ETS), NCB and Kapil Kukreja, General Manager & Head (CME), NCB took part.

Moreover, the technological university had also joined hands with the Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA) to strengthen industry-academia collaboration in the electrical and electronics sector in January this year.

In March 2026, DTU received Rs 4 crore in seed funding from its alumnus Rajesh K Soin to establish a university-led startup - biome sustainability ventures.

The startup aimed to resolve two challenges at once, including agricultural waste and the environmental impact of construction.
