NEW DELHI: The Vice President of India, Venkaiah Naidu has suggested to the University of Delhi officials to continue with the present Extra Curricular Activities (ECA) quota process for offering admission to the talented artists. The suggestion by the Vice President has come after numerous requests for it poured in from artists and Members of Parliament.
It must be noted that earlier with the release of the official notification for DU admissions 2020, the university officials had announced that owing to the unprecedented situation of COVID -19 pandemic, there will be no trails for admission to ECA or sports quota this year and under the ECA quota admissions will be offered only to candidates with NCC and NSS certificates.
Naidu (who is also the Chancellor of DU) made these comments while having a meeting with the Pro-Vice-Chancellor & Dean Colleges, University of Delhi.
Further, the Vice President has also asked the varsity authorities to take “prompt action” in finalising the examination calendar and filling up the vacancies at DU.
