DU CSAS first allocation list out; more than half seats claimed by CBSE students

NEW DELHI: The University of Delhi (DU) has announced the first seat allotment list today, August 1. Considering that the vast majority of CBSE schools and nearly all CISCE ones are private, Delhi University seats are likely being claimed mainly by more well-to-do, privately-schooled schools. As many as 71,758 students from the CBSE board have been allotted seats in the university, while 3,028 candidates from the CISCE board alloted seats against the DU CSAS UG first merit list. The board with the third highest candidates is the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) with 2,344 students, followed by 2,048 and 1,527 students from UP and Rajasthan boards.
Allocations against the first list to the DU CSAS UG programmes have been done in all programmes, in all colleges, except in those programs where the eligibilities include performance or practical tests.
In its first round, as many as 2,02,416 eligible candidates were considered for allocation based on their preferences of programme and college combinations. A total of 85,853 allocations have been done in the first CSAS round. This, as per a DU statement, includes allocation to all programmes in all colleges in UR, SC, ST, OBC(NCL), EWS and two supernumerary quotas, PwBD and Kashmiri Migrants.

According to the university statistics, as many as 7,042 candidates got their first preference and around 22,000 candidates have been allocated a seat from their first five preferences.
The candidates who have got a seat in the first round of seat allotment will have to accept the seat by August 4 (4:59 pm). The DU colleges will check the applications of the candidates allocated to their college. The colleges will process the applications till August 5. Candidates whose applications get approved by the college will have to submit the fees by August 6, 2023 (4:59 pm).
The candidates who are offered a seat in the first round must complete the admission formalities by the stipulated time. Only the candidates who would complete their admission process including payment of fees, will be able to opt for “Upgrade” to participate in the second round.
The university will announce the second round of seat allotment result on August 10, 2023.
The Delhi University is offering around 71,000 seats and will have 78 UG programmes and 198 BA programme combinations through its 68 colleges.
