The move comes as the university seeks to address low seat occupancy in courses that have consistently witnessed low demand over the past few years.

As the first phase of undergraduate admissions continues, with the university inviting registrations through the CSAS portal , Dean of Admissions Haneet Gandhi said the revised programme combinations were being finalised after analysing admission trends over the last few years. "We are going to make some changes in the BA programme combinations, as some of the combinations will be revised," Gandhi told PTI.
She said the exercise was entirely data-driven. "We have analysed the data and trends from the last few years. The decision is completely data-driven. The information will be released within this week, along with the start of the second phase," she said. The university had earlier constituted a committee to examine ways to improve seat-fill rates in undergraduate programmes by restructuring BA discipline combinations.
Among its key recommendations was that colleges should reassess existing combinations and merge low-demand subjects with more popular disciplines to improve enrollment. The panel also suggested that languages such as Urdu, Arabic, Persian, Bengali and Telugu, which have consistently had low admissions even in on-campus colleges and departments, could be paired with another discipline in a single BA programme.
DU UG Admissions 2026: 73 courses
Admissions to 73 undergraduate programmes and more than 100 BA programme combinations offered across 67 colleges will be based solely on candidates' CUET-UG 2026 scores, subject to programme-specific eligibility criteria prescribed by the university, officials said.
After completing the initial registration, candidates will be required to participate in the second phase of CSAS, during which they will submit their preferences for programme and college combinations.
During phase II, candidates will also have to map their CUET-UG test papers with the subjects they studied in Class 12. The university said that only language and domain-specific CUET papers corresponding to subjects passed in Class 12 will be considered when determining programme-specific eligibility and calculating candidates' scores.
Based on the subject mapping, the university will determine which programmes candidates are eligible for before inviting them to submit their programme and college preferences. The schedule for the second phase of CSAS will be announced shortly, according to the university.
