‘No outsiders, max 5 campaigners’: Delhi University issues advisory for DUSU Elections 2026

The University of Delhi has issued an advisory on the upcoming Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) election 2026 for both North and South campuses. A meeting was held with the DU college principals, deans, hostel authorities, department heads, and Delhi police to streamline guidelines and regulations for DUSU elections.

DUSU election 2026 voting process will take place on September 18. The vote counting will be held on September 19.

Moreover, as per the election rules, any printed paper posters are banned, and campaigning is restricted to designated Democracy Walls only. Also, students can report any rule violations and property defacement anonymously through the DU’s online grievance submission portal at forms.du.ac.in/mac/view.php?id=193658.

DUSU election 2026 guidelines

Earlier, DU also warned students against the use of luxury vehicles for election-related activities. As per the proctor’s office directive, all contesting candidates will get authorised stickers for their vehicles.

The guidelines issued in the advisory for the elections are as follows.

• For campaigning, a maximum of five members are allowed within any university or college premises without disrupting academic activities.
• No male student shall be permitted within girls' colleges and girls' hostels, except the candidate.
• Parking of vehicles on roads adjacent to the Delhi University, both North and South campuses, and all DU colleges during the election period is prohibited.
• Vamika police patrolling vehicles shall be available 24/7 for security purposes.
• Restrictions for allowing outside guests on the hostel premises
• The hostel canteen will be monitored, and no outside guests will be allowed.
• Police will keep an entry register at the security barricades to monitor outside vehicles.

Further, the university said nomination papers for DUSU office-bearers have to be submitted at the office of the chief election officer at the Conference Centre, opposite the Botany Department in North Campus.
