National Engineer’s Day: M Visvesvaraya’s birthday is celebrated as engineer’s day every year on September 15 for his contribution to India’s development.
NEW DELHI: The birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya is celebrated as Engineer’s Day every year today, September 15. Also known as ‘Sir MV’, he played a huge role in contributing to the development of the country and received the Bharat Ratna award in 1955.
Visvesvaraya founded University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering, Bangalore agricultural university; led the creation of Krishnaraja Sagar dam, and worked for flood disaster management.

IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay
Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and the Indian National Science Academy are co-hosting an event to celebrate the Engineer’s Day 2021 wherein IIT Bombay’s professor Tarun Kant will deliver a lecture. He will be awarded with the Brahma Prakash medal, the IIT Delhi said.
