FTII gets modern auditorium with movable screen; Union minister as chief guest

Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurates the auditorium which is equipped with modern features including movable screen, Dolby Atmos surround sound system, and others.
NEW DELHI: Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune, gets a new auditorium with all the modern features such as cinema projector, a PA system for stage performance and Dolby Atmos surround sound system. The auditorium was inaugurated by Union minister of information and broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw on January 11.
The institute said that the auditorium is equipped with a horizontally movable screen, measuring 50 feet in width and 20 feet in height. The screen can be adjusted using a remote control, allowing for seamless transition of the auditorium into a cinema theatre, it added.
This feature is believed to be the first of its kind, setting a new standard for versatility and flexibility in auditorium design. FTII has already filed for a patent for this feature, the institute claimed.
Post the inauguration, the union minister Vaishnaw participated in an interactive session with students and faculties where he cleared various aspects of proposed deemed university status. During the interaction, the minister said,“Our legacy and heritage provides a firm foundation to embark on the journey of further excellence”.

The Union minister also expressed his views for cinema education in India and emphasized on strengthening the career prospects of the students, greater linkage with the industry. Referring to Gati Shakti Vishvavidyalaya, he said that the university has become a key talent provider for the global players in a very short interval of time.
“The new auditorium will not only be an invaluable strength for the pedagogy of FTII but will be a key presence on the rich cultural firmament of Pune,” the Union minister added. The motto of FTII should be ‘World class while staying true to our heritage,’ the minister stated.

As part of the event, he also visited several facilities of the institute and said: “with the talent and ecosystem of FTII, we can become a bigger player.” He also shared his views about the creative economy with the students, faculty members.
